Two Ogun families, the Fagbohun Royal Family and Adeniyi Family in the Gbokoto area of Ilaro in the Yewa North area of Ogun State, have advised unscrupulous members of the town to desist from dragging the name of the Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon Lateefat Ajayi, in the mud over land matters.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that both families raised the observation that some faceless unscrupulous members of the community are trying to use the name of the lawmaker to grab lands and foment trouble in Gbokoto

The families, who jointly confirmed to have sold a large parcel of their land to Owoeye and Company, also denied the grave allegation that Alhaji Mutairu  Owoeye is planning to kill the Ogun Assembly Deputy Speaker.

They also called on the security agencies in the state to thoroughly investigate the grave allegation contained in the online publication.

An unidentified online news medium had on Tuesday raised an alarm that there were plans to kill the lawmaker for undisclosed reasons.

The Family head of Fagbohun Royal Family, Fagbohun Oluyemi, while speaking with journalists on Tuesday said, “I am speaking against a publication made online by unidentified people, who are raising a false alarm on alleged plans to kill the Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly”.

“Let me stress that, ‘The two owners of Gbokoto town, Fagbohun Royal Family and Adeniyi Family, at different times sold land to Alhaji Mutairu Owoeye.”

He continued, “What I can say is that some people want  to use the name of the Deputy Speaker to fraudulently take over what does not belong to them”.

“The Police and other security agencies in Ogun State should as a matter of urgency institute a probe into the allegation by the online news platform.”

The family head also said, “It is necessary for the Deputy Speaker to come out and deny any threat against her life. She visited our family land without any security detail and there was no harassment or threat to her life”.

“The matter has already been investigated by the Police and is also a subject of investigation at the office of the Attorney General of Ogun State.”

Fagbohun wondered, “I don’t know why they are resorting to media blackmail. Already, the office of the Attorney General has fixed a meeting for Wednesday on the land .Why the desperation?”

“It is on record that my grandfather signed as the owner of the land to the Federal Government when the government needed land for the establishment of the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro” the family head said.

Adewale Adeniyi, the family head of the other family also told newsmen that, “We don’t have any reason to kill the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly and nobody is planning to kill her”.

“Those people are only trying to raise a false alarm and blackmail us and our buyer. And they resorted to using the name of the Deputy Speaker.”

“We are not in any dispute with her over the land and therefore, has no reason to harm her. She is not claiming to own our land. She is only doing her job as the representative of the area at the State House of Assembly. ”

He confirmed, “My family sold part of our land to Alhaji Owoeye over ten years ago. And now that he is here to use his land, we don’t have any choice than to allow him use what he had already paid for”.

The family head also noted, “If truly there were attempts to kill her, why has she not come out and why has she not reported to the Police or other security agencies?”

He therefore, called on the State Government and the Police to investigate the media report about plans to kill the lawmaker.
