The fate of popular Radio Presenter,Chibuzor Ani,popularly known as Ogenendigbo is now hanging in the balance as he languishes in Police custody following the order of Lagos State High Court over link to the self acclaimed Obi of Lagos, Chief Chukwbuike Azubuike.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Chibuzor Ani landed in trouble after Chief Azubuike contacted him to produce Radio and TV jingles, which he did and was paid for the services.
However, he received a call from the Police at the State Command and was told that the Commissioner of Police wanted to see him. He was subsequently arrested and detained at the Command when he got there.
For several weeks, Ani has been in Police custody with other defendants namely Chief Martin Nwaodika, Chief Ikechukwu Franklin Nnadi and the principal suspect,  Chief Azubuike, for allegedly parading himself as the “Obi of Lagos”.
Ani has denied any involvement in the Obi of Lagos saga and explained that he actually did jingles for the advert and he was paid just like the printer who designed the invitation cards for the launching of the N1.5b fund for the Obi of Lagos.
He called on the Nigerian Union of Journalist, members of the public and prominent Nigerians to come to his aid because he is innocent of all the allegations leveled against him as he knew nothing about the Obi of Lagos issues.
The Lagos High Court sitting in Tinubu Square ordered the arrest and detention
of the President General of the Igbo Speaking Community, Chief Sunday Udeh, Chief Azubuike, Nwaodika, Nnadi and Ani for their alleged role in the installation of Obi Ndigbo of Lagos State.
Chief Azubuike was apprehended with three alleged accomplices during preparations for an unlawful unveiling ceremony to launch a prototype of a purported N1.5bn “Palace of Obi of Lagos State” on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at Apple Hall, Amuwo Odofin.
A petition was said to have been written to the Commissioner of Police,  CP Moshood Jimoh, by the Lagos State Attorney General and the Oba of Lagos against Azubuike and others.
They were arrested and detained at the Command for interrogation over their alleged conduct in the Obi of Lagos matte.
During interrogation, Chief Azubuike was said to have implicated Chief Sunday Udeh by writing in his statement that it was Chief Udeh that issued the certificate as Obi Ndigbo of Lagos State to him, whereas in his invitation sighted he claimed to be the Obi of Lagos State.
Thus, the Police referred the matter to the DPP for legal advice and the DPP report implicated Chief Sunday Udeh and others that they have cases to answer . Chief Udeh has been left wondering which offence he committed by issuing the Igbo Speaking Community certificate to Chief Azubuike as Obi Ndigbo of Lagos. The situation of the journalist,  Ani, seems to be worse for producing jingles for the event which he was paid for as he was alleged to be culpable.
Meanwhile, the Court has adjourned the matter till 17th November, 2025, for the arraignment of the suspects.
