Nigerian Senate Commends Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing During Oversight Visit

Posted on November 14, 2025
A delegation from the Nigerian Senate Committee on Industry, led by Senator Francis Fadahunsi, conducted an oversight inspection of Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company (IVM) in Enugu and Nnewi, applauding the firm’s innovation and growing capacity to transform Nigeria’s automotive industry.
The visit, which included Senator Victor Umeh of Anambra Central and other committee members, aimed to assess the quality and scale of IVM’s operations. The team also toured the newly developed production plant for long Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses in Umuezena-Umudim, Nnewi.
Senator Umeh praised Chief Dr. Innocent Chukwuma, Chairman of Innoson, for his visionary leadership and commitment to industrial development in his home state of Anambra. “His investment has not only advanced local manufacturing but also created employment opportunities for our youth,” Umeh stated.
Senator Fadahunsi expressed admiration for the company’s vehicle designs and its ability to meet national demand. He acknowledged the challenges facing the firm, including inconsistent power supply and economic policy hurdles, and pledged that the committee’s findings would be presented to the National Assembly and the Presidency for potential intervention.
The inspection team also included representatives from the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), led by Director General Joseph Osanipi, and Senators Isa Lau, Banigo Ipalibo Harry, Samson Ekong, Binos Yaroe, along with Committee Clerk Mr. Oluwa Femi Ajibabi.
The Senate’s visit underscores growing support for indigenous manufacturing and the potential for Nigeria to shift from reliance on imported vehicles to becoming a hub for quality automotive exports.
