Comrade Dauda Attends Official Commissioning Of Lagos Police Command’s Gender Unit

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), today attended the official commissioning and handover ceremony of the newly upgraded Lagos State Police Command Gender Unit.

The event, held at the Lagos State Police Gender Unit beside Grange School, Harold Shodipo Crescent, Ikeja, was organized by the Office of the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Claudiana Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu.

The initiative, championed by the First Lady, is part of the Lagos State Government’s strategic efforts to curb the rising cases of domestic and gender-based violence and to strengthen institutional response mechanisms across the state. The upgraded facility is expected to enhance timely intervention, victim support, and coordinated justice delivery.

The Ikeja Chairman joined other distinguished dignitaries at the event, including the wife of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Her Excellency Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat; the Executive Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, Hon. Segun Odumbaku; the Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA, Hon. Moyosore Adebanjo; the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh Moshood; the Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development; and several senior government officials.

Speaking at the event, Comrade Dauda commended the First Lady for her unwavering commitment to protecting vulnerable groups and strengthening the fight against gender-based violence. He emphasized that collaborative efforts between government institutions, security agencies, and community leaders remain critical to building a safe and just society.

The ceremony reaffirmed the state’s collective resolve to ensure that victims of gender-based violence receive the protection, dignity, and justice they deserve.
