The Ikeja Local Government, under the purposeful leadership of the Executive Chairman, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), on Friday, 12th December, 2025, commenced its three-day Year 2026 Budget Retreat at AM2PM Hotel, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.
The retreat, coordinated by the Department of Planning, Budget, Research and Statistics, headed by Dr. Yemisi Anita Rasak, began with a warm Welcome Address by the Council Manager, Mrs. Juliana Taiwo Odubeko.
In attendance were all Heads of Departments and Units, Area Officers, the Vice Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Abisola Omisore, the Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Chief Adeyi Adeniyi, as well as invited facilitators and key management staff.
Day One featured two insightful sessions. Talk One, a health-focused presentation delivered by Dr. Alex, addressed the topic “How to Ensure Longevity,” emphasizing personal wellness and productivity in public service. Talk Two, facilitated by Dr. Wasiu, focused on the Public Procurement Process, highlighting best practices, compliance, transparency, and value-for-money in government spending.
In his remarks, the Council Boss, Comrade Dauda, commended the Planning and Budget Department for organizing a well-structured and timely retreat, stressing that a sound budget remains the backbone of effective governance. He charged participants to be strategic, realistic, and innovative in their contributions, noting that the 2026 Budget must reflect the aspirations of the people of Ikeja and align with the administration’s development agenda.
Participants later engaged in robust deliberations on 2025 revenue generation, critically examining shortfalls, identifying loopholes, addressing operational challenges, and proposing practical strategies to strengthen and increase Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in 2026.
The Day Two session of the Budget Retreat continues today, with more technical presentations, stakeholder engagements, and in-depth discussions expected to further shape a people-oriented and development-driven Y2026 Budget for Ikeja Local Government.
