Company Driver Arraigned For Allegedly Stealing N25m Car Allocated To Him

A 60-year old company driver, Rasak Oniyo, has landed in trouble in Lagos State over a missing Kia-Rio saloon car with registration number LND 72 BR worth N25,000,000 belonging to Dana Logistic Company, which was allocated to him.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the driver, Rasak Oniyo, has been arrested and charged for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace, conspiracy and stealing.
The incident happened on 8th December, 2025, at Four Square Street, Alagbada, ljegun, Lagos, where the company is located.
According to the Police, the driver was employed by the company, allocated the vehicle and directed to be parking the vehicle inside the company’s premises.
However, on the particular day, the driver parked the vehicle outside the company’s premises and it got missing. He then informed the company that the vehicle was not found at the place he parked it.
The matter was reported to the Police at Isheri Oshun Division. He was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over the missing vehicle and was asked to produce it.
But he denied knowing what happened to the vehicle where he parked it despite the fact that he was asked to park the vehicle inside the company’s premises after work.
The Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The charges read :
“That you, Rasak Oniyo and others now at large on 8/12/2025 at No.28, Four Square Street, Alagbada ljegun, Lagos, in the Lagos State magisterial district, did conspire together to commit felony to wit stealing of Kia Rio, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 411 of the criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT II:”That you, Rasak Oniyo and others now at large at the same place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did steal a Kia-Rio saloon car with Reg. No. Lagos LND 72 BR, valued at Twenty Five Million Naira Only (N25,000,000.00) property of Dana Logistic Company allocated to you as a driver of Dana Logistic company, and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 287 of the criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT III:” That you, Rasak Oniyo, at the same place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace by refusing to comply with the directives of the company, and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 168(d) of the criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”
COUNT IV: “That you, Rasak Oniyo, at the same place in the aforementioned magisterial district, did deliberately park the company’s car in your custody knowingly that it was against the company’s law to park their vehicles outside the company premises, and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 123(1) of the criminal law of Lagos State Nigeria 2015.”
However, he pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. F.R. Ogunkoyede, granted him bail in the sum of N3m with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned till 15th January, 2026, for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
