Man, 51, Arraigned For Allegedly Selling Hard Drugs At Shoprite

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Shoprite, Alausa area of Ikeja, Lagos.

Accordingly, the Police received intelligence that the suspect and others were dealing in the substance and hence the Commissioner of Police Tactical Team of the State Command invaded the place, arrested the suspect and recovered some hard drugs as exhibits.

After interrogation, he was found culpable and consequently charged before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charges read:

“That you, Olatunde Omamuli ‘m’ and others now at large on the 11th day of November, 2025, at about 1150hrs at Shoprite, Alausa area of Ikeja, Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit unlawful possession of twenty (20) packs of substance suspected to be Indian hemp/ Canadian loud and thereby committed an offence punishable under Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

COUNT II:”That you, Olatunde Omamuli ‘m’ and others at large on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did have in your possession twenty (20) packs of substance suspected to be Indian hemp/Canadian and when accosted by the Police you were unable to give satisfactory accounts on how you came in possession of the aforesaid substance and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 329 of the Criminal Law of Lages 2015.”

COUNT III:”That you, Olatunde Omamuli ‘m’ and others at large on the same date, time and place in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did sell/smoke substance suspected to be Indian Hemp/Canadian Loud by polluting the atmosphere and the environment and making the community harmful for a healthy living in the vicinity/environment and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 166(a)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

However, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ihkayere, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
