A frontline councillorship aspirant in Nnobi Ward I, Idemili South LGA of Anambra State, under the platform of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Hon. Emeka Emmanuel Ezeunyim, has listed his top projects as he moves to represent his ward in the 2026 Local Government election in the state.
Hon. Emeka, a former Executive Assistant to Ex-Governor Willie Obiano, APGA Youth leader in Nnobi Ward I, and Special Assistant (Media) to Idemili South Mayor, Hon. Amaka Obi, who addressed newsmen at his Umuona – Nnobi country home, said that his priority is to bring governance closer to his people in order to tell the people that government is all about them.
“I understand very well that politics is very local, and that has been my driving force. So, I’ll prioritize bringing governance and democracy dividends closer to my people.”
Emmy young, who pledged servant leadership, said he will use his wealth of experience, his contacts and influence to change the narrative in Nnobi Ward I and as well attract meaningful projects, such as education support and scholarships to indigent students; solar lights installation, medical outreaches, rehabilitation of Internal roads in Nnobi Ward 1, support petty trader businesses among other things when elected as Councillor.
“I’m going there to push Bills that will influence my people positively. I’ll embark on massive repairs and renovation of classroom blocks in order to create conducive environment for our young learners,” he said, while reminding the people of Nnobi Ward I, especially the APGA faithful, that the upcoming primary of the party is a golden opportunity for them to fetch a viable candidate with fresh ideas, proven capacity, true grassroots love and good academic background.
On the issue of agitation over rotational arrangement in Nnobi Ward I, Hon. Emeka insisted that it is the turn of Umuona village to produce the next Councillor in the ward.
According to him, Nnobi Ward I is divided into Ebenato and Uhuana. He said that Uhuana has villages like Umuona, Amadunu, Ifite and Eziora.
“Other villages like Amadunu and Ifite have been represented at the council at different times. It is the turn of Umuona, my own village, to be represented at the council now, and this is why I’ve made myself available for this representation and service. Umuona has been grossly marginalized in council representation, not even in Transition councillorship or in Elective councillorship and it is this time that “we need to right the wrong” by picking Umuona person as APGA candidate.”
“The democratic experience which we’re enjoying today started in 1999, and since then, Umuona has not been represented at the council. It was in 1996, during the Military regime that one Hon. Francis O. Nwankwo went to the council under UNCP platform. I’ve explained this countless times to people asking me to step down from the race. I’ve told them that my people have not been represented.”
“True, Eziora, which is still part of Ifite village, has not been represented just like Umuona. But Umuona is senior to Eziora, and traditionally, Umuona will take a share before Eziora. If Eziora is agitating that they’ve not gone to the council, they should wait for their senior, Umuona, to take their turn first.”
“Besides, it is on record that Eziora is part of Ifite village. What we have in Nnobi is ‘Ebenesi’, not ‘Ebenasa. In Nnobi Ward I, Amadunu has taken its turn. Ifite, which Eziora is part of, has also taken its turn. It is left for Umuona to take its own turn, and it is wrong for anybody to deny Umuona of this opportunity.”
Hon. Emeka also noted that Eziora people, which are currently championing to be represented under APGA, have continued to play opposition politics against APGA over the years; with APGA recording countless failures at Polling Unit 010, which is a polling unit in Eziora.
He lamented that some of the aspirants jostling for the Councilorship Ticket are not card-carrying members of APGA and have not been seen participating in any party activity.
“Eziora people don’t believe in APGA – they are APC people. Therefore, if they must contest this time, they should get their nomination from the APC, which is their own party – not APGA. APGA rewards success and loyalty, not failure and deviance.”
