Police operatives from the Ogun State  Command have arrested a woman, Rebecca Sunday and her accomplice, Oluibi Ajibola, in connection with the alleged killing of her neighbour’s 6-year old boy, Pemisere Bara, for ritual purposes.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened in Ebute Igboro town, Yewa North Local Government Area of the State, where they reside.
According to the Police, the deceased, Pemisere Bara, was reported missing by his father, Bara Kehinde, at the Ebute-Igboro Police Station when his son failed to return home after he was sent on an errand.
However, the father was also said to have suspected one Rebecca Sunday, a co-resident, prompting immediate Police attention and the woman was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation.
During the interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to collecting a “diabolical ring” from one Oluibi Ajibola, alleging that an agreement was reached between her and Ajibola that she would be paid ₦150,000 if she produced a child to be used for alleged ritual purposes.
In a swift response, the Police intensified efforts in collaboration with local youths in the community, leading to the arrest of the said Oluibi Ajibola.
This was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, on Friday. He disclosed that the child’s body was recovered from the Yewa River at Ebute Igboro, along the Ilaro–Oja-Odan Road.
The image maker, Babaseyi, stated that two suspects were arrested in connection with the child’s death and that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and possible prosecution.
