Prince Oyekan Donates Football Kits To Indigent Players In Lagos

As part of his commitment towards helping young talented football players to achieve success, a member of the Lagos State Football Association, LSFA, Prince Ifalade Oyekan, has donated football kits to football players.

Oyekan, who made the donated recently to young football players who play at Jankara playground, Lagos Island, gave football boots, shin guards, football hose jersies to players whose desire was to earn a living through the round leather game, but did not have sports equipment to build a solid career in football.

Oyekan, who is also the chairman, Lagos Divisional Football Association, LDFA, thanked the chairman of Lagos State Football Association, Seyi Akinwunmi, for appointing him as the chairman of LSFA’s Chairman Grassroot Committee, said his appointment gave him the opportunity to have adequate knowledge of grassroots football.

Having discovered that Nigeria’s is blessed with quality and talented football playes who are rated among the best in the world, Oyekan stressed that there is need to delve in to such humanitarian service since it would go a long way to help boost the career of indigent players.

The chairman, LDFA, who had donated set of jersies to the winners of EKO Football Fiesta U – 13 and U-16 and a trophy to the LSFA, said he would not relent in his effort to help indigent players, adding that the gesture would compliment the effort of the Lagos State Football Association to further develop the game at the grassroots level.

According to him, Jankara playground on Lagos Island, which is being managed by Bombata Football Association, BOFA, has produced great football players such as Gbolahan Salami, Edem Etebor, Omoyegun Nirudeen, Festus Odini, Adekunle Dawodu, among others.

He said the move would discourage the indigent players from engaging in crmininal activities, but contine to focus on their football career with a believe that they could play for any of the national teams or even professional football clubs in Europe and other parts of the world someday.

Oyekan, who had also donated a complete set of jerseys to Jankara All Stars, said second batch of football kits would arrive the country before the end of October, as he intends to give some to indigent disabled athletes and female football players in Lagos State.
