Why The Saleability Of Gov Otti Is Outstanding, Unequal Among His Pals
A statement stressing that the Abia State Governor, His Excellency, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, is saleable, marketable and good to go any second, minute, hour, day, week, month and year, cannot be argued.
What he has achieved in terms of infrastructure and human capital development has given him an edge above his colleagues, by my assessment. He has also managed human and material resources, excellently.
Four proverbs in Igbo land that suit my reply to the handful of the enemies of Governor Otti, are “ahia oma na ere onwe ya,” meaning “good product / market sales itself.”
Also, we say in Igbo language, “obu ugbo ole ka nmadu ga egbu agu tupu akpoya ogbu agu?” It means, “how many times will someone kill lions before he is named lion killer.”
Odighi mma ahu cha nmadu, ajuwa ole ya?” It translates to “It is not good after seeing someone, a question is asked, where is he?”
Another one says, “Anaghi acho ihe agba na aka.” In English, this means, “You don’t look for what you are wearing on your hand.”
Another saying is “anaghi eji enyo ele ihe agba na aka,” which is , “you don’t need mirror to look at what you are wearing on your hand.”
The above four proverbs speak volumes concerning Governor Otti, following his transformative style of governance in the 27 local government areas of Abia State, as against the alleged transactional system Abians witnessed years before Otti ascended to power in May 29, 2023 (about 32 months ago).
The above comment, corollary to the proverbs should not be taken as vainglory. This is because of the legion of projects, both ongoing and completed, in all the nooks and crannies of the 17 local government areas in Abia State. At a count, about 250 direct and indirect construction works in the “Each Day, Each Work” philosophy of the administration. Aside tangible construction works, which have turned the state into “a construction site,” there is human capital capacity building component, which have uplifted thousands of Imo youths. Another one is the leadership academy that has mentored lots of young youths between 17 and 22 years.
The Green Shuttle eco-friendly transport system, introduced by Governor Otti, has launched Abia State into a hub akin to developed cities abroad. The free fare for commuters, lasting over two months, is exemplary initiative for a man of Governor Otti’s stature.
I was in Umuahia on Thursday, February 5, 2026, I saw enthusiastic commuters waiting for the free ride to Aba at a designated road, close to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia. The velocity of the enthusiasm was too much. I was told by some persons that people wake as early as 5a.m. to get to the point of embarkation, serving as a temporary loading bay. One good thing is the orderly disposition in them. 20 air-conditioned electric buses are carrying out this assignment for the masses, driven by well behaved drivers, wearing befitting uniforms with pilot caps.
There is no discrimination in carrying passengers. Physically challenged brothers and sisters, according to the governor’s directive, are given preference to embark before anyone else. An excellent policy. By June, that is about four months away, another set of similar forty numbers of buses would have arrived. After that, another delivery of forty buses would take place in December, bringing a total of 100 buses. If such number get into the fleet at a subsidized rate, your guess is as good as mine. Already, discussions on the feat recorded by the introduction of the busses with three electric charging locations in Aba, Umuahia and Ohafia, are favorable. Therefore, sustenance of the laudable achievement is required.
Very soon, precisely, this month, Governor Otti, is likely going to inaugurate the Central Commercial Terminal for the buses and others to load and unload both passengers and goods / luggage.
Honestly, positing, Abia is being positioned for orderliness, peace, progress and growth.
The governor has already given an instruction that all the allowances, including leave allowance, owed Abia workers since 2016 be prepared and paid them without wasting time. This is in addition to the regular 28th of every month salary payment. He had cleared the inherited arrears salaries of workers, even pensions, in the region of N40 billion. These arrears were owed by the previous administrations. He did that in order have the best productivity from his workers. Workers are no longer lamenting, except a hand full of those who have some issues with their accounts and banks.
He also obeyed the biblical injunction which says in Igbo, “Onye olu nwere ugwo olu,” meaning “Every worker has his wage as his reward.”
In the health sector, the Primary Healthcare has touched everywhere, also the smart schools he embarked upon, including the free education system among others, are there to speak for the Abia governor.
For now, the above areas mentioned confirm that Governor Otti, is saleable for a second term in office, to continue his good work.
He cannot complain that he has no money to purchase gubernatorial and expression of interest forms when the time starts, as he has gotten a donation of N100 million from the Ukwa La Ngwa group, in appreciation of his achievements in office. He has not disappointed them, and the entire Abians, including I, Charles Ogugbuaja, Ph.D.
