Football Is A Tool For Peace – Okoronkwo

Maxi Ike Okoronkwo , a football enthusiast and philanthropist in Nigeria, has said that football is a tool to foster peace in the community and that is the motivating factor behind the Mazi Ike Okonronkwo Peace Cup in Arochukwu.
According to Mazi Okonronkwo , a progressive community is a peaceful community and where there is peace, wealth abounds and there is no denying the fact that football can be used as a weapon to create peace and an escape route from poverty for a young footballers in the community , adding that the tournament can be a launching pad for youths in community to secure a better future in football .
” Football cannot be separated from peace and I know the importance of peace in the community. A progressive community seeks to maintain peace always and where peace abounds , wealth and riches follow. Football is one of the tools that can be used to foster peace in the community, ” Mazi Okoronkwo said.
He added that : “The kingdom of Arochukwu and the people are lovers of peace and football as a sport is very popular among our people. I believe that when the youth are engaged in footballing activities , you are sure to find peace and harmony while crime will be reduced to a great extent.
“The sole aim is to further foster the peace, unity and progress of the renowned Kingdom through Sports as well as provide entertainment and unearth grassroots talents in the community”, he said .
Mazi Okoronkwo is renowned for his many philanthropic gestures towards the less privileged and he has awarded scholarships to many indigent students in the community , provision of welfare for the elderly, orphans and widows. He has put smiles to the people of Arochukwu through various community development projects. He is a shining light and a role model figure to all Nigerians in the aspects of helping to promote peace and unity in the community .
The final of Mazi Ike Okoronkwo Peace Cup will take place on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 at the Ascenta ground in Arochukwu.
