A 35-year old man, Garuba Emmanuel, has been arrested and charged in Lagos State for allegedly defiling his 6-year old daughter by penetrating her private part with his finger.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened sometime in May, 2025, at Omowumi Amoche Street, Meiran, Lagos, where the suspect resides.
According to the Police, the victim visited her father during the holidays and he molested her by inserting his finger into her private part.
Due to the forceful penetration, the victim started having pains in her private part, which the mother observed. She was asked what happened and she revealed that her father had tempered her private part when she visited him during the holidays.
The mother reported the matter to the Police. The man was arrested, detained for interrogation over the alleged conduct and the victim testified against him before the Police.
The Police found him culpable and charged him before the Ogba Magistrate Court for the alleged offence which attracts several years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
However, the Court did not take his plea following a motion moved by the Prosecutor, Supol Phillip Ademigbuji, asking the Court to refer the matter to the DPP for legal advice.
The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Omolara Kushanu, ordered his remand in custody at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the outcome of the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and send it to the DPP for legal advice.
The matter was adjourned till 2nd April, 2026, for mention for the report of the DPP’s advice, which will determine if the matter will be transferred to the High Court or not over jurisdiction.
