Man, 24, Sent To Prison For Inducing Abortion On Girl, 16

A 24-year old man, Micheal Ogedengbe, has landed in trouble in in Ondo State for allegedly inducing abortion on a 16-year old girl and it later leaked to her parents.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Ogedengbe, has been arrested and charged before the Court for his alleged conduct.
The incident happened on 1st February, 2026, at Oka Akoko area of Ondo State, where they reside.
The Police did not specify if the victim was impregnated by the suspect. However, the Police alleged that the suspect and others now at large conspired and induced abortion on the victim. The matter was reported to the Police and the suspect was arrested and detained at the station for interrogation over the alleged offence.
After interrogation, the Police found him culpable and charged him before the Magistrate Court sitting in Akure over the alleged conspiracy and inducement of abortion on a teenage girl under the Criminal Law of the State.
The alleged offence is contrary to the provisions of Section 228 and punishable under Section 516 of the Criminal Code which attracts several years of imprisonment.
The defence counsel, G.O. Omoedu, urged the Court to admit his client to bail in the most liberal terms, assuring the court that the defendant would not jump bail.
The Presiding Magistrate, R.I. Adelakin, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N1 million with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and addresses will be verified by the Court.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
