Comrade Dauda Hosts Ikeja Religious Leaders To Special Iftar, Promotes Unity And Spiritual Harmony

The Executive Chairman of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), today hosted religious leaders across Ikeja to a special Iftar (breaking of fast) at the Marriage Hall, Ikeja Local Government Secretariat.

The spiritually uplifting gathering brought together executives and members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), as well as the League of Imams and Alfas across Ikeja Local Government. The event served as a remarkable platform for unity, fellowship, and the strengthening of interfaith relationships within the local government.

In their separate remarks, the religious leaders commended Chairman AKOD for what they described as an unprecedented and lofty initiative aimed at fostering peace, unity, and mutual respect among people of different faiths. They expressed appreciation for his inclusive style of governance since assuming office, noting that his administration has consistently demonstrated fairness, openness, and commitment to the welfare of all residents irrespective of religious or ethnic background.

The leaders offered fervent prayers for the Chairman, asking God to grant him wisdom, strength, and continued success in office, while also praying for sustained peace, progress, and development across Ikeja.

In his response, Chairman AKOD expressed profound gratitude to the religious leaders for their unwavering cooperation, guidance, and spiritual support. He acknowledged the vital role of prayer in governance and emphasized that their consistent intercessions are yielding positive results for Ikeja.

The Council Chairman assured them that God is indeed answering their prayers concerning the growth and transformation of Ikeja. He further appealed to them not to relent in their prayers and support, stressing that the continued success of his administration depends greatly on sustained spiritual backing and collective responsibility.

Also in attendance at the event were the vice chairman, Ikeja Local Government, Hon. Abisola Omisore, APC Ikeja LGA Chairman, Hon. Adebowale Adetoro, former sole administrator, Ikeja Local Government, Engr. Taiwo Abiodun, Councillors representing Wards C & D, Ikeja; Hon. Saburi & Hon. Idris Salami and APC Ward D Chairman, Alhaji Oshiberu.

 

The event concluded on a note of unity and renewed commitment to peaceful coexistence, reinforcing Ikeja’s reputation as a model of religious harmony and inclusive governance.
