It was an atmosphere of peace and unity in Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State following the massive turnout aided by the resilient leadership led by their President, Chief Linus Igbudu, during their expanded Executives meeting held in Ojuelegba area of Lagos State.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that those in attendance apart from the President, included the National Coordinator of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Southwest, Chief Everest Ozonweke, (Onowu), General Secretary, Chief Robert Obasi, Prince Ubochi C Ubochi, Women leader, Chief Mrs. Olaedo, State Executive, Local Government Chairmen, Women leaders, youth leaders and key stakeholders including elders.
During the meeting, it was acknowledged that Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos has faced considerable challenges stemming from a leadership crisis initiated by the former President, Chief Solomon Ogbonnaya Aguene, who sought to extend his tenure contrary to the directives of the National leadership and their constitution by securing a contentious consent judgment.
The highlight of the meeting was extensive discussions focusing on unity, reconciliation, healing and the way forward for Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State.
Through their commitment, they agreed and reached high-level decisions that will not only address past grievances but also reposition Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State on path of growth and unity.
Contrary to the opposition, the meeting agreed for peace and reconciliation but added that the lingering issues like consent judgment and the N59m collected for elections must be addressed before any election will be held in Lagos State.
The house also resolved that before any meaningful reconciliation will be made, the former President, Chief Solomon Aguene, must apologize for his deceit, pains and injury, which he caused many people especially those who contested election unknown to them that Aguene was procuring a consent judgment that has thrown Ohanaeze into crisis for several years.
It was certain from the meeting that the people were determined to come together and restore peace as the details of their meeting will unfold later as gathered by the P.M.EXPRESS correspondent, who attended the meeting and witnessed the massive turnout not seen for several years.
