Amb. Emeni Ibe Calls For Greater Collaboration Between Security Agencies Over Killing Of Brig. Gen. Braimah

Posted on April 11, 2026
Following the reported killing of Brigadier-General O.O Braimah alongside many soldiers on Thursday in Borno State during an ambush by Boko Haram terrorists and their allies, the President General of respected Niger Delta socio-cultural group, the Orashi National Congress, ONC has called for greater synergy and collaborative solutions between the security agencies.
Speaking on the development in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Amb Ibe said, “The spate of killings across the country is increasingly worrisome. It is even more sad when it involves the lives of security personnel safeguarding the territorial integrity of the nation”.
“It was reported that the criminals were well armed. However, I strongly believe that they cannot be better armed than our gallant troops. The main weapon of the terrorists is surprise. Only real intelligence operation can overwhelm the terrorists.”
“Looking at it holistically therefore, the war against terrorism must be waged by the full involvement of the DSS, DMI, NIA, DIA, and similar agencies. It is my belief that if they do their jobs well, it will not be easy to lose heroes like Braimah.
“While I call on the government to order an investigation into these killings to ascertain where our roof is leaking, our security agencies should do more of collaboration and not compete among themselves. The bandits and insurgents are not invincible. With prompt sharing of intelligence and collaboration efforts, I strongly believe that the nefarious activities of the criminals elements can be nipped in the bud.”
“May the soul of Brig. Gen. Oseni Braimah and that of other departed gallant warriors rest in peace! My deepest condolences to the bereaved families!” Amb Ibe concluded.
