Woman Arrested For Seizing Twin Babies From Their Mother

A 50-year old woman, Mrs. Regina Dassi has been arrested for allegedly taking three months old twin babies from their mother.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Bambo Estate in Ajah area of Lagos State where they resided.

The police alleged that Mrs. Dassi took away the three months babies to her house and thereby deprived them of motherly care. The police did not however disclose what actually transpired between the suspect and the mother of the babies for her to take custody of the babies.

Some of the residents who claimed to know what happened said that it might be as a result of a failed agreement between them.

However, Mrs. Dassi was arrested and charged before Ikeja Magistrates court for the alleged offence.

She pleaded not guilty.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O Sule-Amzat granted Mrs. Dassi bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The prosecutor, Mr. Benson Emuehi did not object to her bail.

She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 17 May, 2018.

P.M.EXPRESS gathered that the babies have been returned to their mother after they were rescued from Mrs. Dassi.
