Amb. Comrade Emeni Ibe (JP AP), the President General of notable Niger Delta socio-cultural group, the Orashi National Congress, ONC, has highly commended Pipeline Infrastructure Nigeria Limited (PINL) for awarding scholarships to 600 host community students in Bayelsa State, as the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) called for deepened collaboration between communities and the surveillance firm to sustain the security of the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP).
The commendation followed the announcements made at a stakeholders’ meeting organised by PINL for host communities in Yenagoa, capital of Bayelsa State, amid ongoing calls by some stakeholders for the decentralisation of pipeline surveillance contract.
Amb. Ibe lauded the relationship that has developed between PINL and host communities in Rivers and Bayelsa States.
The ONC PG said, “I am extremely delighted that PINL has been in the news for the right reasons. PINL is a responsible and listening company with genuine interest for the welfare of our people in the Niger Delta region”.
“PINL operation has not only helped the Nigerian economy but has equally offered solutions to ameliorate the situation of things in our region. The bond in Bayelsa between the communities and PINL is a very strong one and I am sure that the rating will not drop.”
“Personally, I was highly elated when I heard that PINL granted scholarships to 600 students of higher institutions in host communities in Bayelsa State, giving them between N500,000 and N1,000,000 each to aid their studies. It is highly commendable and a big plus for indigenous firms doing business in our region. It is a strong sign that PINL remains committed to education and human capital development in our beloved region.”
“I must therefore, on behalf of the Orashi National Congress and the people of Niger Delta region highly commend PINL for this genuine show of support. This will go a long way in easing the financial burden of their studies on parents and sharpen the focus of the 600 beneficiaries” Amb Ibe concluded.
