OYRLEA Warns Against Dumping Of Building Materials On Roads, Walkways As Enforcement Leads To Conviction
Posted on May 1, 2026

The Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority (OYRLEA) has issued a stern warning to residents against the indiscriminate dumping of building materials on roads and walkways, particularly materials such as gravel, granite, stone dust, and sand, following a successful enforcement operation that led to a conviction in Ibadan.
The enforcement exercise, carried out in the Yemetu area, resulted in the arrest of one Adebayo Adesumbo, who was found obstructing a public road with construction materials, including granite and sand.
The offender was subsequently arraigned before the Oyo State Special Offences (Mobile) Court sitting in Ibadan, where he pleaded guilty to the charge.

Delivering judgment, the court convicted him and imposed a fine of ₦40,000.
Reacting to the development, the Authority cautioned residents and construction operators to desist from using public roads and walkways as dumping or storage points for materials, noting that such actions pose serious risks to public safety and hinder free movement.
OYRLEA reaffirmed its commitment to sustained enforcement across the state, emphasizing that violators of environmental and traffic regulations will be prosecuted accordingly.
