The aspiration of Dr Chibueze Ofobuike for the Aguata Federal Constituency seat received a major boost as the Aguata Local Government Traditional Rulers Council gave him a resounding royal endorsement.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Chairman of the Aguata LGA Traditional Rulers Council, HRH Igwe Alex Ejikemeuwa Azike, Iduu III of Igbo-Ukwu, declared the Council’s support during a special meeting held at the Aguata Traditional Rulers Council Chambers.
“You are a worthy son of Aguata whom we are all very proud of,” Igwe Azike stated. “We are supporting you with our prayers and goodwill because we are sure of your quality representation when you get to the Federal House of Representatives.”
With the royal blessings of the monarchs from all communities in Aguata LGA, Dr Ofobuike’s candidacy is now being described by political observers as “a done deal” ahead of the polls.
Why the Royal Fathers Are Behind Him?
The traditional rulers noted that Dr Ofobuike has consistently demonstrated deep respect for the institution of the monarchy and has been a reliable partner in grassroots development.
Over the years, he has worked closely with the royal fathers in resolving community disputes, mentoring youths, and promoting peace and brotherhood across Aguata towns.
“Unlike many politicians who only visit palaces during elections, Dr Ofobuike is “deeply rooted in partnering with the royal fathers at the grassroots,” the Council noted.
The endorsement was not based on sentiments alone. The traditional rulers cited Dr Ofobuike’s verifiable achievements across Aguata LGA:
1.Rebuilding Traditional Institution: He fully rebuilt and furnished the Aguata Traditional Rulers Council Building, restoring dignity to the royal fathers’ meeting place after years of neglect.
2. Youth Empowerment: Through the Ofobuike Foundation,he has sponsored over 200 Aguata youths in skills acquisition, ICT training, and university scholarships, with beneficiaries drawn from all 14 communities in the LGA.
3. Healthcare Intervention: Dr Ofobuike donated modern medical equipment to health centres in Igbo-Ukwu, Ekwulobia, and Achina, and organized quarterly free medical outreaches that have attended to over 5,000 residents.
4. Community Peace Initiatives: He personally mediated in boundary disputes between communities in Aguata, earning commendations for his non-partisan, fatherly approach that prevented escalation of crises.
5. Infrastructure Support: He facilitated the grading of rural roads linking Uga, Amesi, and Umuchu, and installed over 150 solar streetlights in markets and village squares to improve security and night commerce.
6. Support for Education: Dr Ofobuike renovated blocks of classrooms at Community Secondary School, Akpo and Community Primary School, Nkpologwu, and instituted an annual Ofobuike Essay Competition for secondary schools in Aguata.
The royal fathers emphasized that under Dr Ofobuike’s influence, the traditional institution in Aguata has enjoyed “needed values and respect” from government and stakeholders, as he consistently projected their voices on issues of culture, security, and development.
Visibly moved by the endorsement, Dr Chibueze Ofobuike expressed profound gratitude to the monarchs.
*“I am honoured with the trust and confidence reposed on me by our royal fathers,” he said. “This is a call to greater service. The agenda is to provide a representation like no other for our people, and in doing so, impact lives, lift our young people, and deliver real public infrastructures for our communities.”
He pledged to sponsor bills that protect traditional institutions, attract Federal projects to Aguata and create a constituency office that will run as a “community development hub” if elected.
“Aguata deserves a voice that understands our culture, feels our pain, and has the capacity to deliver. With your prayers and the support of our people, we will get there,” Dr Ofobuike added.
The endorsement ceremony ended with special prayers from the royal fathers for Dr Ofobuike’s success at the polls and for peace in Aguata LGA.
