The former President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State, Chief Solomon Aguene, has congratulated Chief Ifeanyi Odii on his emergence as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in Ebonyi State ahead of the next election.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that Chief Aguene, who holds the traditional title as Udo Chia Ndigbo, issued the congratulatory message after Odii secured the party’s ticket, describing it as a victory for the aspirant committed to the development of Ebonyi State.
In his statement, Chief Aguene called for unity and peace among Ebonyi State leaders irrespective of political affiliation, stressing that collaboration is essential for the continued progress of the state.
He specifically urged prominent leaders of the state to set aside differences and work together in the interest of Ebonyi people, noting that unity among leaders will fast-track development and attract investments.
Chief Aguene commended the former Governor and current Minister of Works, Chief Engr. David Umahi, for his contributions to the development of Ebonyi State. He noted that Umahi proved himself a great leader both during his tenure as governor and in his current role at the federal level.
“We are proud of Umahi for what he has done to Ebonyi State people and what he is doing and making us proud,” Chief Aguene said, adding that the infrastructural projects and policies initiated under Umahi laid a strong foundation for the state.
The Ohanaeze chieftain also praised Chief Ifeanyi Odii for his contributions to the progress of Ebonyi State through various empowerment programmes and philanthropic initiatives that have touched many communities.
He described Chief Odii as a compassionate leader with a track record of supporting youths, women, and small business owners, and expressed confidence that Odii would continue those good works if elected governor.
He recalled what Odii did to Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos State when he empowered hundreds of members with huge sums of money which he said Ndigbo will not forget.
“Chief Odii is a leader with a heart for the people. If given the opportunity as governor, he will transform the state and build on the gains already recorded,” Aguene stated.
Chief Aguene further highlighted the importance of rallying other respected Ebonyi leaders around the governorship project for the sake of unity and continuity in governance.
He called on former Senate President and elder statesman, Chief Pius Anyim, to bring his wealth of experience and national connections to bear in supporting the PDP candidate, saying Anyim’s statesmanship remains vital for Ebonyi’s cohesion.
Udo Chia Ndigbo also appealed to Chief Linus Okorie, a respected political leader and former House of Representatives member, to join hands with other stakeholders to support Odii’s candidacy for the progress of the state.
According to Aguene, Chief David Umahi, Chief Pius Anyim, Chief Linus Okorie, and Chief Ifeanyi Odii represent the pillars of leadership in Ebonyi State, and their coming together would send a strong message of unity to all citizens.
“Ebonyi needs all her leaders at this critical time. When our leaders unite, politics takes a back seat and the people become the ultimate winners,” he said, urging the leaders to prioritize the collective interest of Ebonyi above party lines.
Chief Aguene concluded by congratulating Chief Ifeanyi Odii once again and called on all Ebonyi leaders, party members, and citizens to embrace peace and work together to ensure the state continues on the path of growth, development, and prosperity.
