CPPM Commends President Tinubu On Third Anniversary, Demands Reforms Must Be Consolidated To Impact More On People’s Lives

The Committee for the Protection of People’s Mandate, CPPM has joined Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora to mark President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s third year in office and commend his administration for its courageous and tough economic re-engineering of the country for a brighter and rewarding future.

The CPPM Executive Director,  Nelson Ekujumi, in a statement Friday stated that President Tinubu came into office at a very difficult time of deep fiscal and structural challenges in the history of our great country and it is only by the grace of God and his bold economic re-engineering, though painful and tough, that we are today hopeful of better days ahead.

The statement reads in part; “Three years on, we at CPPM recognizes the courage of the Bola Tinubu administration’s difficult but necessary reforms. Decisions on fuel subsidy removal, FX unification, and student loan access were not politically convenient, but they laid groundwork to end leakages and expand fiscal space for development.

“We are aware that these bold and tough economic reforms by the President Bola Tinubu secures the future far and above short-term comfort, notwithstanding it’s politicization from expected quarters.

“Being conscious of the economic gains of the economic reforms of the Bola Tinubu administration, we at CPPM, urge the administration to consolidate on its reforms so as to make life livable for all Nigerians and all those living in Nigeria”.

Some of the notable progress of the reforms among others in the last 3 years include:

Economic Reset: Reforms have increased government revenue, reduced deficit financing, and positioned Nigeria for sustainable growth. We are now seeing early dividends in infrastructure funding and social investment, eg Lagos Calabar Coastal highway, Sokoto Badagry highway, Benin-Ore expressway, Kaduna Lokoja highway, new airport terminals, seaports reconstruction, NELFUND, CREDICORP, etc.

Security Gains: Security forces have recorded major operational successes against terrorists and criminal networks. While challenges remain, the momentum on ground is clearer than in previous years.

Institutional Reforms: Steps to strengthen anti-corruption agencies, digitize government services, and improve ease of doing business show commitment to making institutions work for citizens.”

CPPM believes President Tinubu’s three years reflect bold leadership in a tough season.

“Nation-building is a marathon, not a 100 meters sprint. The people’s mandate is safest when government stay the course, correct course where needed, and keep citizens at the center of every policy.

“Even in the midst of our economic and social challenges which has been exacerbated by the war in the Middle East, CPPM salutes Nigerians for their sacrifices and perseverance and admonishes them to remain steadfast, resolute and committed to democracy and not succumb to the lies, falsehood and misinformation by anti democratic elements and agents of destabilization to mislead and incite them to a state of anomie for their evil anti people’s interest.

“Once again, we reaffirm our commitment to support, monitor, professionally and constructively engage governments at all levels so that the mandate Nigerians freely gave at the polls, delivers good life, prosperity, security, and dignity for all.”
