Igbo Speaking Community In Lagos Inaugurates Elders Council Forum, Eze John Nwosu Emerges Chairman

The Igbo Speaking Community in Lagos State, led by its President General, Chief Sunday Udeh, popularly known as Onwa, has inaugurated an Elders Council Forum to strengthen its leadership and advisory structure. 
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the inauguration took place on Friday, 29th May 2026, at the group’s headquarters in Surulere, Lagos.
Eze (Dr) John C. Nwosu, who holds the titles of Ezendigbo and Asiwaju Ndigbo in Mushin, Lagos emerged as the Chairman of the newly constituted council.
While inaugurating the Council, Chief Udeh stated that the Elders Council was carefully selected to comprise men and women of integrity, leadership experience, and impeccable character. The council is expected to serve as an advisory body to guide the executive leadership of the community.
Chief Sunday Udeh explained that the council was constituted to assist the leadership in administration and ensure that the executives remain on the right path in pursuing the goals of the community.
He said that the members were chosen based on their track record of service and commitment to Igbo culture and unity in Lagos. He added that the forum is expected to meet regularly and provide suggestions that will move the Igbo Speaking Community forward.
Udeh further explained that the Igbo Speaking Community was duly registered at the CAC for the welfare of the community and was recognized by the Lagos State Government and included in the protocol list.
He noted that the State Government later removed the Community from the protocol list and his administration is doing everything possible to return the community on the protocol list and be recognized once again by the State Government.
He said that the Council will work and come up with suggestions that will restore the community to its past glory and hence the constitution of the Council.
At the event, Chief Udeh presented certificates of membership to the inaugurated council members as recognition of their new advisory roles within the organization.

Okparaku; Eze Godwin Njubuigbo; Eze (Pst) Okey Anorue; Eze Steven Agabiga; Chief Godwin Umeugoji; Elder Chioma Akomas; Elder Alex Okeke; Chief Charles Chukwu; Barr Emeka Ukachi, Secretary; Eze (Dr) Jossy Egwuatu; Onowu Chidi Ozuome; Chief (Mrs) Kate Ugoka; High Chief Chris Ekwilo; Chief Leonard Okafor; Chief Innocent Nwaogwugwu; Chief (Mrs) Doris Okere; High Chief Fred Ikpo Muoma; Rev Theo Onwuzor; High Chief Innocent Ezedimbu; Eze Timothy Nwanoro; Chief Anamnobi Ukadike; and Onowu Prince Andymoore Ezejioha.
In his response after inauguration, Eze John Nwosu commended the leadership of the Igbo Speaking Community under Chief Udeh for the foresight and vision in setting up the advisory forum. He described the move as timely for the growth and stability of the community.
Eze Nwosu praised the selection of the members and promised that the council will live up to expectations. He assured that the elders would provide wise counsel and support that will enhance unity and progress among Igbo residents in Lagos.
He concluded by stating that the council has already commenced work and would prioritize initiatives that promote peace, cultural preservation, and the welfare of Ndigbo within the state.
