Man, 38, Arraigned In Ogba Over Alleged Conspiracy To Murder, Threats & Obstruction Of Justice

A 38-year-old man, Hamed Tajudeen Akanbi, was on Thursday arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court sitting in Ogba, Lagos State, over alleged conspiracy to commit murder, issuing death threats, membership of an unlawful society, and obstruction of justice.
The arraignment followed a six-count charge filed by the Commissioner of Police through the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos.
According to court documents dated February 12, 2025, Akanbi appeared before Magistrate Mr. L.A. Owolabi. The prosecutor listed on the charge sheet is SP Josephine Ihkayere.
Count I alleged that Akanbi and others now at large conspired to commit felony, to wit, the murder of Sheriff Ishola Salami, on April 18, 2023, at about 3:00pm at Mobil Road, Moba Axis, Ajah, Lagos. The alleged offence is punishable under Section 233 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Count II further alleged that on August 26, 2024, at about 10:00am at Chevron Roundabout, Lekki, Lagos, Akanbi and others now at large conspired to commit felony, to wit, the murder of Prince Ademola Akintoye. The prosecution said the alleged offence is also punishable under Section 233 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Count III alleged that on April 18, 2023, at Mobil Road, Moba Axis, Ajah, Akanbi knowingly and intentionally threatened Prince Jide Akintoye, Aare Bashir Fakorede, and Mr. Olagbade Benson through phone conversations to “deal with them. The charge stated that the alleged offence is punishable under Section 56 (a) (b) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Count IV alleged that on the same date at Mobil Road, Moba Axis-Ajah, Akanbi allegedly belonged to an unlawful society identified as “Aye Confraternity” and allowed meetings to be held at the address for the commission of crimes. The prosecution said this is punishable under Section 42 (1) (a) & (b) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Count V alleged that on April 5, 2026, at about 3:00pm along Chevron Drive, Lekki, Akanbi and others at large knowingly and unlawfully assaulted Prince Jide Akintoye, Aare Bashir Fakorede, and Mr. Olagbade Benson in a manner likely to endanger human life or cause breach of peace. The alleged offence is punishable under Section 171 (2) (c) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
Count VI alleged that on March 22, 2026, at about 6:00pm at the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Kirikiri, Lagos, Akanbi conspired with others at large to obstruct, prevent, pervert or defeat the course of justice. The prosecution alleged the conspiracy involved intent to offer bribe to judges and judicial officers, contrary to Section 97 (1) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to all counts.
The prosecutor, SP Josephine Ihkayere, asked the court to refer the matter to the Director of Public Prosecutions, DPP, for legal advice.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, ordered Akanbi’s remand in custody at the correctional centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the DPP’s advice and directed the prosecutor to duplicate the file and forward same to the DPP.
The matter was adjourned for mention pending the outcome of the DPP’s legal advice, which will determine if the case will be transferred to the High Court due to jurisdiction.
Legal experts say all allegations remain unproven until established in court. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty according to law. http://pmexpressng.com will continue to monitor proceedings as they unfold.
