The south -west zonal competition is featuring 16 male and female Teams from 12 clubs with two male and Female from each State bringing the numbers of Players to 18 Males and 18 Females. In the end,  two  Teams (Club/State)  will emerge to represent the zone at the Round of 16 at the National Competition.

The National Volleyball League is the brainchild of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation under the leadership of Engr. Nimrod Musa who together with the Technical Committee and Nigerian Volleyball Coaches and Referees Association came together in Abuja on 8 December,  2017 to brainstorm on how to move the Sport forward and take it to its prestigious past.

The aim of the League is to create a platform for the organization of regular Competitions amongst Clubs and affiliated State Associations in order to give the Players, Coaches, Referees and the Game administrators the opportunity to  be positively engaged thereby improving their skills and coordinations to bring high performance results at major events.
