Man Turns Deaf And Dumb After Being Caught On CCTV Stealing

22-year old David Owoigho turned deaf and dumb after he was caught on CCTV while stealing at Just Rite Supermarket in Lagos.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at the popular Just Rite Supermarket located at Aviation Estate close to Ejigbo area of Lagos.

According to the police, the suspect went to the supermarket, stole items worth N21,000, hid them inside his clothes and attempted to escape. Unknown to him, there was CCTV in the shop that monitored his activities until he attempted to escape. The security men then apprehended and handed him over to the police at Ejigbo Division.

P.M.EXPRESS scooped that even when he was taken to the police station, he still maintained that he was deaf and dumb despite the fact that those who knew him said he was not deaf and dump as he claimed.

The police then charged him for pretending to be deaf and dumb and stealing.

However, when he was taken to court and the charges were read to him, he pleaded not guilty.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.K.J. Layeni granted him bail in the sum of N30,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The prosecutor, Inspector G. Simon did not object his bail.

He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 25 April, 2018.
