2 Men Arraigned In Court Over Alleged N14m Nissan Rogue Theft In Surulere

According to the charge filed by the Commissioner of Police, the defendants were brought before the court alongside others said to be at large on a three-count charge. The charges are contrary to the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

In Count I, the prosecution alleged that Ikenna, Koffi and others now at large on April 26, 2026, at about 12:00 p.m. at Lawanson, Surulere, within the Lagos Magisterial District, conspired among themselves to commit a felony to wit stealing. The offence is punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

In Count II, the Police alleged that on the same date, time, and place, the defendants and others at large stole one Nissan Rogue vehicle with registration number FST 253 GD. The vehicle is valued at Fourteen Million Naira and is said to be the property of Mrs. Oyefunke Iyabode Alegbe. The offence is contrary to Section 280 and punishable under Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

In Count III, the prosecution alleged that on the same date, time, and place, the defendants and others at large assembled in a manner likely to cause chaos within Surulere and its environs. The offence is punishable under Section 44 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The charge sheet listed the case number as m-/8/49/28. It was processed by ASP Roland Oderinde of the Command Special Squad 2, State Headquarters, Ikeja. His contact on record is 09053330032.

The defendants are alleged to have committed the offences at Lawanson, Surulere, which falls within the Lagos Magisterial District. Police said the matter was investigated by the Command Special Squad 2.

At the court session, the three counts were read to the defendants and they pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, SP Philip Ademigbuji, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove the allegations.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Kusanu, granted them bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.

 P.M.EXPRESS reports that the vehicle, a Nissan Rogue with registration FST 253 GD, is alleged to belong to Mrs. Oyefunke Iyabode Alegbe. The Police are yet to recover the vehicle or apprehend other suspects said to be at large.

Legal experts say all accused persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction. The matter is expected to be mentioned at the appropriate Lagos Magistrate Court.
