Senator Araraume Denounces False Publication On “Rebuilding Okigwe Zone”

Posted on July 9, 2026

Former Senator representing Imo North, Distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Godwin Araraume, has disassociated himself from a publication circulating on various media platforms titled “A Message of Gratitude, Unity, and a Clarion Call to Rebuild Okigwe Zone.”

In a statement Thursday, Senator Araraume described the publication as false, unauthorised and mischievous.

He said he did not authorise, approve, or cause the release of the statement, and that it was fabricated to mislead the public and create unnecessary tension within the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Imo State.

For clarity, Senator Araraume stated as follows:

1. Commitment to the APC

He remains a committed member of the All Progressives Congress. He said his loyalty to the party, its leadership and ideals is unwavering, and that he continues to conduct himself in line with the APC Constitution and internal democratic processes.

2. Imo North Senatorial Primary

Senator Araraume said he is awaiting the official position and final decision of the party regarding the Imo North Senatorial Primary.

He noted that contrary to claims in the fabricated publication, he has not declared himself the party’s candidate and will only make announcements through recognised and authorised channels.

3. Relationship with Governor Uzodinma

He affirmed that he enjoys a cordial and respectful relationship with His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodinma, Governor of Imo State.

He said any suggestion of disagreement or political friction between them exists only in the publication and should be disregarded, adding that their relationship is guided by mutual respect and a shared commitment to the peace and development of Imo State.

4. Party Unity

Senator Araraume said the success of the APC is a collective responsibility.

He reiterated his commitment to fostering unity, mutual respect and cooperation among all party stakeholders.

5. Disclaimer

He completely dissociated himself from the publication and its contents, describing it as the handiwork of mischief makers and political opportunists seeking to sow discord and misrepresent his views.

Senator Araraume called on members of the APC, the people of Imo North, the people of Imo State, the media and the general public to disregard the publication in its entirety as it is false and misleading.

He said he remains focused and committed to the ideals of the All Progressives Congress and to supporting the Renewed Hope Agenda under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, while continuing to pursue the unity, progress and development of Imo State and Nigeria through lawful engagement.
