Rivers United have completed the signing of experienced central defender Muktar Muhammad from Kano Pillars FC, with an official announcement from the club expected in the coming days.

The move is part of the Pride of Rivers’ efforts to strengthen their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season and their campaign in the CAF Champions League.

Muktar Muhammad arrives with a wealth of domestic experience, having earned plaudits for his commanding performances in defence.

Before joining Kano Pillars, he played a key role in helping El-Kanemi Warriors lift the 2026 President Federation Cup, further establishing himself as one of the league’s dependable centre-backs.

Following a solid spell with the Sai Masu Gida, the defender is now set to begin a new chapter in Port Harcourt, where he will be expected to bolster Rivers United’s backline as they chase success on both the domestic and continental fronts.
