Edo NMA Requests Two Operational Buses From Okpebholo Administration for Public Health Outreach

To expand its reach in carrying out medical outreach, emergency response, and public health campaigns across Edo State, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Edo State Branch, has appealed to Governor Monday Okpebholo for the donation of two operational buses.

The appeal was made by the newly sworn-in Chairman of Edo NMA, Dr Andrew Oseghale Eigbedion, during his inaugural press briefing in Benin City.

Dr Eigbedion explained that operational vehicles are critical to improving the association’s logistics and capacity to support statewide health initiatives, community outreach programs, and emergency response activities across all 18 local government areas.

Recalling a recent zonal meeting where Edo NMA hosted leaders from six South-South state branches, Dr Eigbedion noted that visiting delegations from four states arrived in branded Hiace and Coastal buses donated by their respective state governors, while Edo doctors were forced to commute in their visitors’ vehicles.

“Four of the States came down to Benin City in branded and befitting Hiace and Coastal Buses donated to the respective four Nigeria Medical Association State Branches by their respective State Governors,” Dr Eigbedion stated.

He expressed optimism that the donation of two operational buses by the Okpebholo administration would eliminate mobility constraints and significantly boost the association’s public health field interventions.
