A 29-year-old man, Ijuo Samson, has been arraigned before an Ojo Magistrate Court over allegations of conspiracy and abduction in Barare Extension, Mosafejo, Ojo area of Lagos State.
According to the charge filed by the Commissioner of Police, Samson and others now at large were accused of committing the offence between June 2025 and February 2026.
The charge sheet, signed by CSP Opeifa Omolola, Divisional Police Officer, Ojo Division, listed two counts against the defendant.
Count I alleged that Ijuo Samson and others conspired among themselves to commit felony to wit: abduction. The offence was said to be punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Count II alleged that on the same date, time and place, the defendant and others now at large abducted one Chidibem Nwadiagu, a male, by allegedly taking him to an unknown destination without the knowledge of his parents.
The prosecution said the act contravenes Section 269 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Court records obtained showed the case was handled at the Ojo Magisterial District. The Investigating Police Officer listed on the document is CPL Adejoke Oyetakin.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Esther Adesulu, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove the allegations.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O.M. Ogun, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Center pending when he will perfect his bail conditions.
Legal experts say Section 411 deals with conspiracy to commit a felony, while Section 269 relates to abduction under Lagos State law. Both offences attract severe penalties if proven in court.
The Police have listed other suspects as “now at large,” indicating that investigation into the matter is ongoing.
When contacted, officials at Ojo Division said the case file remains active and further proceedings will be determined by the court.
As at press time, details on legal representation for Ijuo Samson were not contained in the charge sheet made available.
However, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
