The Ikeja Local Government, under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda (AKOD), will tomorrow, Wednesday, August 12, present free General Certificate of Education (GCE) forms to eligible indigent students and formally commence its two-month Temporary Holiday Job Programme for secondary school leavers, students and undergraduates in the Local Government.
The twin initiatives, tagged “Education | Empowerment | Opportunity,” are designed to provide practical support to young people in Ikeja, particularly those from financially disadvantaged backgrounds, while creating opportunities for them to gain valuable work experience during the holiday period.
The presentation ceremony and launch of the programmes will take place at the Marriage Registry Hall, Ikeja Local Government, from 10:00 a.m.
The free GCE initiative, now in its second edition, is part of the administration’s commitment to ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent qualified indigent students from pursuing further education and improving their academic prospects.
Similarly, the two-month Temporary Holiday Job Programme 2.0 is aimed at providing secondary school leavers, students and undergraduates with productive engagement during the long vacation, while exposing them to workplace experience, responsibility and skills that can enhance their future employability.
This is more than a programme — It is an investment in the future of Ikeja’s young people.
AKOD is working. Ikeja is moving forward!
