Chibueze Esomo, 27, Arraigned Over Alleged Assault, Stabbing Of Victim At Dante Bar

A 27-year-old man, Chibueze Esomo, was arraigned before an Ikeja Magistrate Court over allegations of assault and breach of peace against Adepeju Bakare at Dante Bar in Ikeja area of Lagos State.
According to the charge sheet, the Commissioner of Police is prosecuting Esomo for the offences.
The prosecution alleged that the incident occurred on June 6, 2026 at about 4:00am at Dante Bar, Ikeja, within the Ikeja Magisterial District.
In Count A, the defendant was accused of unlawfully assaulting Ms. Bakare by giving her several blows on her body and stabbing her on her left hand thereby causing her harm.
The offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
Count B stated that Esomo on the same date, time and place allegedly conducted himself in a manner likely to cause breach of the peace by beating Ms. Bakare.
The prosecution said the act is contrary to and punishable under Section 168 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
The charge sheet indicated that the matter was handled by ASP Daniel Ajileye of Area ‘G’ Command, Ogba, Ikeja.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, SP Josephine Ihkayere, asked the Court to give a date for hearing to enable the Police to prove the allegations.
The presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A. Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment.
 The defendant was remanded in custody at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending the perfection of his bail conditions. The matter was adjourned for mention.
The defendant is entitled to fair hearing as guaranteed by the Constitution.
All allegations remain allegations until proven in court. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
