The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) became the centre of campus entertainment as student artistes competed for recognition and cash prizes during the Soundcity OnTour 2026 activation sponsored by BIGI.
The three-day event, held from October 7 to 9 at the FUNAAB campus in Abeokuta, Ogun State, brought together music, dance, games and live performances, with students showcasing their talents before a large campus audience.
At the end of the competition, Fadina Segun Samson, who performs under the stage name SEGZY, emerged winner of the BIGI Music Competition at the FUNAAB leg. Olawumi David, known as Dayvo, finished as first runner-up, while Adebayo Moyinoluwa, popularly known as Sourde, secured the third position.
Organisers said the competition had a prize pool of N1 million, aimed at supporting emerging artistes with both financial reward and exposure.
Beyond the FUNAAB campus contest, the regional finals also produced notable winners from other institutions. Taiwo Oladapo Opeyemi, known as http://T.Boss, from Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), claimed first place in the regional category. SEGZY of FUNAAB finished second, while Alabi David, who performs as The Vyine, from the University of Ibadan, placed third.
The outcome at FUNAAB underlines the growing pool of musical talent in Nigerian tertiary institutions and the role of campus platforms in giving young creatives an opportunity to perform, connect with new audiences and build confidence.
Speaking on the initiative, Brand Manager for BIGI, Biola Aransiola, said the competition was designed to give students a platform to be seen and heard.
According to Aransiola, there is no shortage of talent on Nigerian campuses, but what young artistes need are platforms that allow them to express themselves, gain recognition and take their craft to the next level.
The FUNAAB activation forms part of the larger Soundcity OnTour 2026, a nationwide campus entertainment and talent discovery project sponsored by BIGI and Fearless Energy Drink, both brands under Rite Foods Limited.
The tour, which debuted across 10 campuses in 2023, has now expanded to 20 institutions across the country. It combines music competitions, dance challenges, interactive brand experiences and live concerts, targeting youth culture and contemporary music.
For Rite Foods Limited, makers of BIGI Carbonated Soft Drinks, Fearless Energy Drink, BIGI Premium Water, Sosa Fruit Drink and LIDA malt, the tour is a youth engagement platform that connects the brand with young Nigerians driving trends in music and entertainment.
With the FUNAAB edition concluded, attention now shifts to Kwara State University, the next stop on the tour, where another set of emerging artistes will compete for a chance to showcase their talent.
