Kogi Youths Carpet Gov Bello Over Aisha Buhari Claim

A youth group, Kogi Youths For Positive Change has carpeted the Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, over his alleged claim that the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, was interested in who emerged as the National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in forthcoming convention of the governing party.
The group said that their attention has been drawn to publications in the media that Governor Bello had a meeting with few governors and party stakeholders on why he was bent on the choice of Hajia Salamatu Umar-Eluma, as his preferred candidate for the office of National Women Leader of the party. The group said that the Governor’s claim that was he was acting on the instructions of Mrs. Aisha Buhari was false.
Kogi Youths For Positive Change in a release through their leader, Samuel Apaa, asked the Governor who told him that All Progressives Congress, APC, belonged to Mrs. Aisha Buhari. They said that as those who resided in Kogi State that they can never and will never believe any word or statement credited to him as coming from the wife of the President.
“We assume that the first lady should be the mother of all, and she will not belittle herself or want to soil her good reputation by asking a governor like Bello to carry out such assignment for her. The first lady is not living outside Nigeria not to have heard or read about the impression of Kogi people” the group said.
Mr. Samuel Apaa said that his group believed in having a level playing ground for all aspirants and that Governor should have been at the forefront of ensuring a level playing ground for all the party chieftains eyeing national offices. They advised the Governor to rather concentrate his efforts towards the paying of salary arrears owed workers in the State and curtail the rate at which people were committing suicide over nonpayment of salaries and pension allowances.
“Let us state here that, if the claim is true that Mrs. Aisha Buhari and Governor Bello are bent on forcing morally bankrupted Hajia Salamatu Umar-Eluma, then they should be ready for an election. But all candidates for that position should be screened by the EFCC and DSS, and the result of such screening should be made known to party leaders and stakeholders. We are also pleading with the APC governors across the country, especially from those from North Central to speak and work for the truth. We must not allow our beloved party to fall into wrong hands as the opposition parties, media houses home and abroad are watching us. We must save our party from those who do not mean well as Governor Bello is reportedly showing by this action of his” Kogi youths said.
