A 31-year old company driver, Mr. Dominic Nege has been arrested by the police after he diverted a truck load of Trophy lager beer products, sold products for N30, 000 and escaped.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the Benue State-born Nege claimed that he was being paid peanuts and the company still went ahead and slashed his salary. Mr. Nege was among the suspected and arrested criminals paraded by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal at the Police Command, Lagos.

While parading the suspect, the police boss said sometime in February, 2015, the suspect approached Rabel Nigeria Limited, a subsidiary and distributor for International Breweries, producers of Trophy lager beer as a driver. He said that he was profiled and he furnished the company with false information about his address and same with that of his guarantor.

CP Edgal said that Nege was on 14th March, 2018 sent to Mammy market in Bonny camp, Victoria Island. Lagos. He explained that after loading 143 crates of Trophy bottles with liquid contents valued at N10.3m, the suspect diverted the goods to an unknown destination and switched off his phone.

The matter was reported to the police and CP Edgal directed the intelligence unit to mobilize and assist the operatives of FSARS with the necessary information in order to arrest the suspect. Mr. Edgal said that the efforts paid off on 11th June, 2018, when the suspect was traced to Makurdi in Benue State.

He said that during interrogations, the suspect led the police to Sangotedo area of Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos, where the Mitsubishi Canter Truck with registration number, JJJ 873XJ was abandoned after he sold off the goods. The CP said the police were still investigating the matter in order to arrest other suspects including the buyer of the products for prosecution.
However, Nege admitted saying that he did so because there were issues between him and the company. He said before he took over the job, he was offered N45,000 every month but the wife of the owner of the company slashed his salary to N35,000 and was not paying him regularly. Nege said that he sold the goods and relocated to his home state before he was arrested.

CP Edgal said that Nege will be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigations
