Biola Alabi’s New Flick, ‘Lara And The Beat’ Ready For Epic Premiere

Creative industry pundits have concluded that Biola Alabi Media (BAM) does not do things in half measures. Not many would forget in 2017 when the outfit lead by one of Africa’s best creative mind, Biola Alabi, debuted on the movie production scene with the biggest movie premiere of the box-office hit, ‘Banana Island Ghost’.
A year after, the company is coming with a bigger experience with the premiere of its sophomore movie project, Lara and the Beat holding Sunday July 8.
BAM’s latest work has been in the work for close to a year and now ready to be revealed to the world at an exquisite premiere that will have the ‘who is who’ in the entertainment business in attendance.
The movie, Lara and the Beat, is about the coming of age of the young and beautiful Giwa sisters caught in the centre of a financial scandal with their late parents’ Media Empire.
The sisters are forced out of their privileged bubble, and must learn to build their own future – through music and enterprise – to salvage their family’s past.
The lead actors in the movie are music stars Seyi Shay and Vector.
The svelte singer and songwriter shared a very strong chemistry with the rapper, Vector, while shooting together.
“I am happy it was him I played a movie role with. It was very easy working with him because I know him well. I don’t know anything about being in a relationship with Vector, but I definitely think Lara and the Beat is a movie worth watching because we both share a strong chemistry,” said Seyi Shay while responding to the insinuations that the two artistes are in a relationship.
The movie also features top Nigerian stars including Idhalama Somkele, Chioma Akpotha, Chinedu Ikediaze, DJ Exclusive, Uche Jombo, Lala Akindoju, Toni Tones and Saidi Balogun.
Speaking on the new flick, Biola Alabi, executive producer of the film said; “Lara and the Beat is a reinforcement of our promise and goal to continue to tell authentic African stories to local and global audiences. We have worked with the best talents in the industry and engaged key partnerships and collaborations that have helped to deliver this outstanding movie. I am happy we are unveiling this trailer today and I look forward to everyone enjoying Lara and the Beat in the cinemas from July 20.”
According to Alabi, themes explored in the movie include financial literacy, family values, sisterhood, friendship, music, fashion, culture and love.
Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), a major partner of the movie, believes that this handshake with the film industry is the best way to spread the vital message of civic duty and civic responsibilities.
Mr. Ayodele Subair, LIRS Chairman said; “We have partnered with the movie, Lara and the Beat, because we identify so much with the movie industry’s power to tell our authentic stories, and indeed, Lagos State has an inspiring story to tell. Lagos is at the centre of this film and with the way the state is showcased you can clearly see taxpayers’ money at work. Through this partnership we want people to see why it is important to comply with civic responsibilities, as well as recognize how discomforting it can be when one fails to perform their civic duties.”
The movie also has as other partners Federal Inland Revenue Service, Fidelity Bank Plc, Close-Up, Knorr, M-Cash, Jumia, Kilimanjaro, Studio 24, Nuli, Distell, Dominos, Coldstone, and Keexs.
