An Igbo High Chief, Chris Anabiri has landed in trouble in Lagos after he lied to the police that her landlady, Mrs. Esther Adeniran, burgled her apartment and stole his money.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at Chief Vincent Ikeji Street in Ago Palace where Anabiri resided.

The police investigated his allegation against the landlady and discovered that High Chief Anabiri had no such money. It was equally discovered that he had been unable to pay arrears of rent on the flat he occupied for over a year.

The officers at Area D Command, Mushin, Lagos then asked Anabiri to know how he was owing the landlady N250,000 for rent and kept N255,000 cash with a laptop computer inside the house as he had claimed. The 55-year old Anabiri could not explain and convince the police that he kept such amount of money in his apartment.

The police found him culpable and charged before Isolo Magistrates court for conduct likely to cause breach of public peace and giving the police false information.
He pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mrs. Rita Momah did not object his bail. Thus, the Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. E. Kobenje granted Anibiri bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail condition.
The matter was adjourned till 18th July, 2018.

When P.M.EXPRESS contacted High Chief Anabiri, he admitted that he was owing the landlady and was unable to pay the rent. He explained that due to the rent he was owing, the landlady disgraced and humiliated his family. He said that she went and brought thugs who broke into his apartment and brought his properties outside. He said that he then reported the matter to the police but was surprised that the police turned the whole matter against him and charged him to court.
