Police operatives from the Lagos State Police Command have arrested four notorious armed robbers who had been terrorising the people of Magbon, Marogbo and environs in the Badagry area of Lagos State.

The four suspects were, 30-year old, Saka Buraimoh from Lagos State, 28-year old Sodiq Dauda from Oyo State, 24-year old Taiwo Popoola from Oyo State and another suspect a 35-year old from Ondo State.

According to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, the suspected robbers were arrested on Friday 29th June, 2018, after the police foiled the success of their operations.

He said,”These dare devil robbers who had been terrorising Magbon, Badagry and environs, had been under our radar until luck ran out on them when they attacked one Cletus at Magbon junction and snatched the sum of N250,000 from him at gun point.”

Unfortunately for them, a good Nigerian watching from a distance placed a call to the DPO in charge of Morogbo Division. The Divisional Police Officer, DPO Adagba Johnson, ordered his men to block the expressway which could have served as an escape route. They engaged the robbers who retreated into a village called Ibiye but the police went after them. The robbers ran into a swamp but the police did not relent and arrested them.

Speaking with the gang leader, Saka, who was alleged to have threatened the Oko Oba residents since his return from prison, PM.EXPRESS learnt it was because he was beaten at Oko Oba bus stop when caught but denied the allegation. He said that he got into robbery because he lacked money to pay for his accommodation; that he had been involved in about four operations and was paid N30,000 and N40,000 in previous operations.

He confessed that he used to get information from one TJ about anyone that collected bulk money from the bank. Saka also pointed at one IB as being the one that sold the pistol to him for N40,000. The other suspects also confessed to the crime.

Recovered from them were one locally made double barrel pistol loaded with two live cartridges, a Bajaj boxer motorcycle with registration No MUS 330 OJ which they used during the operations and the stolen two hundred and fifty thousand Naira cash.

While narrating his experience, the victim, Mr. Clement, said that he was surprised when the robbers attacked him. He said that he struggled with them but had to let go when one of them shot in the air. He said that he, some of the area boys and motorcyclists around chased after them but had to turn back when they continued shooting.

The CP said that the case will be charged to court as soon as the investigations were over and that all police formations in Lagos State were fully prepared to tackle armed robbery operations once alerted.
