Super Eight Cup Draws Hold 30 Sept In Alimosho

The draws ceremony for the much awaited fourth edition of Alimosho Youths Fans Soccer Concert tagged “Super Eight Cup” will hold on 30 September at Pako playground, Alimosho. Lagos.
The match coordinator, Ahmed Idowu confirmed that eight teams are expected to take part in the competition. He said the tourney is organized to promote grassroots football in Alimosho and its environs.
“We have a lot of footballers in Alimosho and this competition is an avenue for them to showcase their God given talents. We are going to discover talents and we are looking for ways we can help them play in the Nigerian professional football league,” he said.
Prince Sulaiman Gbadamonsi confirmed that 20 teams are expected to battle for honour, adding that His Royal Majesty and other palace chiefs would be available to add glamour to the tourney.
“Of course, we are expecting full house in the opening match. Don’t forget that our traditional ruler, Oba Onigando of Igandoland will lead other invited dignitaries to declare the tournament open. I wish all the teams best of luck in their outings,” he said.
Sulaiman urged the participating teams to abide by the rules and regulations, saying that any team that violates the rules would be dismissed.
He said the tourney was organized as part of the 40th anniversary of the traditional rules and teams should not see the tournament as a do- or – die affairs.
“We don’t want to condone any form of violence and we are urging club owners and coaches to talk to their players to shun any vices that can bring the tournament into disrepute during and after event. We have employed certifies referees from the Lagos Referees Council to officiate all the matches and I believe that the fear of biased officiating is being taken care of and all the teams would be given equal treatment,” he said.
