Fake Army Colonel Arrested In Hotel After Robbery Operation

A 33-year old man, one Harry Obiajulu, who claimed to be a Lieutenant Colonel in the Nigeria Army, has been arrested in a popular hotel in Lagos after a robbery operation on the highway and he went there to spend from his loot.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that Obiajulu was arrested at the New Hotel located at Shasha area of Lagos with the military wears he used for the operation.
Police sources said that the suspect wore the military wears comprising jungle hat and other military camouflage and robbed one Ibrahim Bolaji of his mobile phones, wrist watch and other items said to worth N895,000 and escaped to the hotel.
However, while he was at the hotel, police operatives accosted him for routine interrogation and he claimed to be a Lieutenant Colonel in the Nigerian Army. He was asked to show more proof but he was unable to do so.
He was then arrested and detained at the police station for investigation and he later confessed that he was not enlisted in the Nigerian Military as he had earlier claimed.
On further investigation, the police discovered that the phones he had were robbed from the owner who was then contacted. The owner of the phones confirmed how he was robbed on the road by the suspect who was wearing military wears.

He was charged before the Ikeja Magistrates court for impersonation and stealing.
He pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Mr. Benson Emuerhi, did not oppose his bail but asked the court to give a date for the hearing since he pleaded not guilty.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mrs. O. Sule-Amzat, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He was remanded in prison custody pending when he will perfect his bail.
The case was adjourned till 10th December, 2018.
