A woman, identified simply as Mrs. Mabel Okechukwu, who usually locked her 14-year old maid inside the toilet while going for church services in Lagos has been remanded in prison custody.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened at 15 Cardoso Street in Baruwa Estate, Ipaja area of Lagos where they reside.

She was charged before the Ogba Magistrates court for indecently dealing with the victim, Miss Ngozi Uka, who she brought from their village as house maid.
She pleaded not guilty. The prosecutor, Inspector Christopher John, did not oppose her bail but asked the court for a short adjournment for trial.
The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. Peter Nwaka, granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties in like sum. She was remanded in prison custody pending when she will perfect her bail condition. The matter was adjourned till 8th January, 2018.

It was gathered that Mrs. Mabel had been torturing the victim since she brought her to Lagos as house maid to the extent that their neighbours were aware of the inhuman treatment meted on the victim.
However, on 4th November, 2018, the act was exposed by one of their neighbours who reported the dastardly act to the Ipaja Police Division; the police went there and rescued the victim.
Mrs. Mabel was later arrested and detained at the police station for interrogation. During interrogation, the victim made some revelations which further exposed her madam.
This was confirmed by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, who paraded Mabel with other criminal suspects at the Police Command before she was eventually charged to court.
Police sources said the defendant chose to lock the victim inside toilet whenever she was going to church to prevent her from escaping over the torture.
