Robbers Lament Police Brutality On Members

The arrest of two suspected traffic robbers and their complaints may have painted the picture of the frustration faced by armed bandits in Lagos State especially this Christmas period.

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspects, one Olamide Bello and Abiodun Oladimeji, lamented the brutality of the police on their members and the way the officers frustrated their operations in the state.

The two suspects were arrested on different dates and locations; while Bello was arrested at Iju Ishaga area, Oladimeji was nabbed at Apongbon Bridge on Lagos Island.
The suspects were recently paraded by the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Imohimi Edgal, at the State Command.

During the parade, the police boss said that on 17th December, 2018, the police received information that some armed robbers were sighted robbing passersby of their valuables. He said based on the information, the police at Pen Cinema Division swiftly mobilized to the scene. When they sighted the operatives, they ran in different directions. CP Edgal explained that the operatives chased them and eventually arrested Bello.
The police recovered a cut-to-size local pistol and live ammunition as exhibits.
Edgal said that similarly on 16th December, 2018, the police received credible information that traffic robbers were robbing motorists at Apongbon Bridge on Lagos Island. He said that the police at Ebute Ero Division and operatives of FSARS were jointly mobilized to the scene. The robbers were chased by the operatives and Oladimeji was arrested. The police recovered one axe and jack knife as exhibits in the process.
CP Edgal said that during interrogation, Oladimeji confessed that he was among the gang of traffic robbers terrorizing motorists on Lagos Island and environs.
The Police boss said that his men were making efforts to arrest the other suspects who escaped and they will be charged to court for armed robbery.
During the brief interview, the two suspects told P.M.EXPRESS their frustration. They put the blame for everything on the police who they claimed did not allow them to successfully operate during this period.
