Suspected Armed Robber Arrested On Christmas Day

An armed robbery suspect who is a member of robbery syndicate terrorising motorists on the notorious Long Bridge along the Lagos/ Ibadan Expressway ran out of luck on 25th December, 2018, at about 10pm when he was arrested by policemen attached to Warewa Division while trying to rob motorists of their belongings at gun point.
The suspect, Lucky Emmanuel, who claimed to be residing at Mile 12 area of Lagos, was among the four armed robbers who came out from under the bridge to rob stranded passengers whose bus developed mechanical fault on the bridge.
While the driver was trying to rectify the fault, the hoodlums suddenly came out from under the bridge and held them hostage at gun point ordering them to surrender all in their possession. They however ran out of luck when policemen led by the DPO Warewa Division, CSP Akinade Johnson, who were on routine patrol on the bridge arrived the scene.
On sighting the police, the armed hoodlums took to their heels but they were hotly chased by the policemen and one of them by name Lucky Emmanuel was subsequently arrested while the other three escaped.
Recovered from the arrested suspect was a pistol with two live revolver ammunition.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Iliyasu, has directed that the suspect be transferred to FSARS for discreet investigation. He equally ordered a massive manhunt for the fleeing members of the syndicate within the shortest possible time. The CP therefore appealed to members of the public to make adequate use of the control room number whenever they are in any form of distress. The numbers are: 08081770416 and 08081770419.
