CYRIACUS IZUEKWE

The candidate of the Alliance of Social Democrats, ASD, for Lagos State House of Assembly, Alimosho Constituency 2, Chief Chukwudi Boniface Okparaku, may have tested the bitter pills of politics after he escaped an assassination attempt on his life during his campaign in Lagos.
P.M.EXPRESS reports that the incident happened along Ijegun Road in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos.
The police at Ashamu Station in Ejigbo area of Lagos where the matter was reported have since commenced investigation to arrest the suspects who were said to be at large.
This was confirmed by Chief Okparaku who expressed shock over the incident and vowed that he cannot be cowed and was more determined to win the election to serve the interest of the people in his constituency.
Okparaku explained how the gang trailed him while he was going for his campaign in Ijegun when his security aides discovered another vehicle was also trailing his convoy and was targeting him. He said when it was discovered, they had to abandon their campaign and drove toward Jakande gate before they met the Police at Ashamu and reported what had happened. But by then the men quickly turned back and drove off.
Okparaku is contesting the position with the candidates of various political parties including APC, PDP, APGA, LP and others.
He believed that the attempt was due to his rising political profile in Alimosho as the people of different tribes and groups have decided to support him and ensure that he wins the election to represent them in the State Assembly.
He said that he was getting massive support because those who had represented the constituency in the past had failed the people. He noted that there are no roads and other dividends of democracy that can change the face of the area.
He further said the youths, women and the entire people were totally neglected and abandoned stressing that there was need for change and that was why the people have resolved to support and ensure he wins the election.
