Tandoh Commends Lagos Athletes’ Feat At World Para Powerlifting Championship

Executive Chairman, Lagos State Sports Commission, Dr. Kweku Tandoh has said that the Commission is very proud of the success recorded by the Team Lagos Para-Powerlifters in the Nigerian team at the just concluded International Para Powerlifting Competition, Lagos 2019.
Tandoh who is also the 1st Vice-Chairman of the Organising Committee of the competition disclosed that the investment of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in sports development in Lagos contributed to the success recorded by the Lagos State athletes in the competition.
Four Para- Powerlifters from Lagos state won one gold, two silver and one bronze medals in the international event which took place at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos
In the male categories, Kazeem Abass won gold and a bronze medals, Akeem Yusuf won a silver medal, while in the female categories, Kafila Almoruf won a silver medal and Sikemi Alake won a bronze medal.
“As a Sports Commission, we are very proud of our athletes’ success and for the fact that the investment of Governor Ambode in the provision of sport equipment for our athletes is not a waste,” Tandoh said.
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode was honoured during the closing ceremony of the competition with an award tagged “Humanity Award” in recognition of the Governor’s contributions towards the growth of Para Powerlifting sports in Lagos State and Nigeria.
