Lagos FA Cup: God With Us FC Intensifying Preparation

 A Lagos based club, God With Us Football Club of Ejigbo have started early preparation ahead of this year’s Lagos State Challenge Cup.

 More than 100 professionaland amateur clubs, are expected to take part in thiyear’s edition, but God With Us FC had been playing friendly matches since January.

 The Ejigbo-Lagos based club have won all their five friendly matches. Recently God With Us FC defeated Chile FC 2-1, while they played 3-3 with Skibaj FC.

 The acting chairman of the club, Moses Emmanuel Godwin told journalists in Lagos that his team are coming to Lagos State FA Cup to shock many big clubs. He said his team are formidable, fortified and ready to cause upset in the Lagos FA Cup.

“We are coming to Lagos FA Cup as a minnow but we want to cause upset. We may not win the title but with our early preparation, we are good to go far in the tournament. We have played five matches and won all. It showed that we have players who are hungry for success and ready to die on the pitch.

“We are not going to rest on our oars but we still need to play tough clubs to strengthen us so that we can correct our mistakes before our first game in the Lagos State Challenge Cup. Presently, we have motivated our players and they are giving us results, so we are happy with the achievements of the club since January. I want to assure our fans and sponsors that we are not going to disappoint them in the Lagos FA Cup,”  he said.

 Asked if his team would bow for MFM, First Bank and other professional clubs if they are paired in the fixtures in the knockout stage, Godwin boasted that his team are not afraid of any team, boasting that his team have what it takes to reach the quarter final stage.

“My players are in high spirits and they want to sell themselves through the Lagos FA Cup. Don’t forget that we are coming to the Lagos FA Cup for the first time, so we want to be well known by shocking big clubs. So MFM or other professional clubs are not a threat to us,” he said.

 Meanwhile a member of Lagos State Football Association, Dotun Coker said that registration forms are on sale at the secretariat, adding that the FA is expecting more than 150 clubs to feature in this year’s edition.
