A man has been arrested by detectives from the Niger State Police Command after he reportedly killed his wife because she said that she will remarry.

The suspect, identified as Danjuma Bisalla, allegedly killed his wife with a cutlass in Uddu, Niger State, while she was asleep.

According to Danjuma, he was sick some weeks earlier and his wife had told him then that if he eventually dies that she will get married to another man. He then felt may be the wife had plans to get rid of him. When he recovered eventually, he thought of eliminating her first before she will carry out her own plan.

On the day the ugly incident took place, he targeted while she was sleeping and used a machete to kill her.

“I can’t imagine my own wife telling me that if I died, she will remarry. I lost my temper and inflicted injuries on her neck with machete which led to her death. I am not regretting killing her since she wanted me to die first. I killed her so that she will not remarry. She should not have said that to my hearing, there is power in the spoken words; so let her go. Allah will send her to hell fire for that unguarded comment” Danjuma confessed.

According to the Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, Mohammad Abubakar, he will be prosecuted after the conclusion of investigations on the matter.
