Police Arrest Suspect Who Allegedly Killed His Wife

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have arrested a man, Sunday Ngwu, over the alleged murder of his wife.

According to SP Haruna Mohammed, PPRO Anambra State Police Command, on the 10th June, 2019, at about 8pm, Police detectives attached to Awada Division arrested one Sunday Ngwu, 41, from Nkanu LGA of Enugu State but who resides at Ikwo Street, Ibollo in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State.

The suspect, Sunday, allegedly beat his wife, one Amara Ngwu, 39, of the same address, to pulp and then used a heavy metal object to hit her on the head leaving her unconscious.

SP Mohammed said that the scene was visited by Police detectives attached to Awada Division and victim was rushed to Bex Hospital, where she was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical doctor and corpse deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.

Meanwhile, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Mustapha Dandaura, has ordered for the immediate transfer of the case to State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, for them to conduct a discreet investigation in order to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident after which suspect would be charged to Court for prosecution.
